thai fever

well we’re finally into september 09.

now what stands in my way for a scintilating trip to phuket is… 2 weeks! myself ron and lky are gonna have a great time over at sunny phuket island for 4 full days. theres bungee, theres parasailing and so much more to do over there. they are must trys because it’s a once in a lifetime thing, and something we cant do in singapore right? lets have a stunner at phuket shall we!

and in late oct, my family are finally gonna make it to bangkok together! after so long my sister finally decided its okay for her to go to bangkok so we’d be heading there for a 5 day trip. and for once im not gonna be staying at some hostel but actually a nice hotel which is the marriot courtyard. impressive i say. my dad spend like quite a huge sum of the trip, but in exchange, we can strengthen our family bond!

absolutely looking forward to both trips!

mid-august acca joy

first of all, today i finally was able to check my F4 ACCA paper result. and im absolutely thrilled that i passed! i’ve nvr been so happy passing with such low marks, just 52/100 but i’m still overjoyed! passing rate was just 39% and 43% over the last two sittings! 1 down, 10 to go!

July Updates.

well july has been rather ‘happening’ around me.

my mom finally got a new job. i was happy for her, well at least for a week, which was how long she lasted at the job. she couldn’t take the absurdity of the company. i’ve nvr heard of an admin job which restricts you to drink/eat while on the job, no talking on the job unless its work-related, and worse of all, providing 2 toilet rolls per month for each employee. where in the world such company even exist? and now, they are refusing to pay my mum for her 1-week of service on the job. like wtf..

July was also the month where Liverpool came to ASIA! singapore is lucky as one of the countries liverpool visited. i had one hell of a time stalking them as far as i could. it’s amazing to know torres was a gem of a person. so camera-friendly and always acknowledging the wild cheers from the fans. we’re lucky to have this lad from sunny spain! the match was awesome, liverpool totally whipped singapore’s ass by 5 goals to nil. controversy arose after the match whereby the liverpool anthem was played and the singapore national anthem wasn’t. another issue was that no one were supporting singapore. well, for the 1st issue, i felt the national anthem SHOULD have been played. we would have sung the anthem with gusto tts for sure! and, did the lions truly thought 45000 fans paid $88-$188 to watch Singapore play? I would think thrice paying 15 dollars to watch our country play unless it was asian cup or of higher level. liverpool is the club side we support but obviously the country for us is Singapore so theres absolutely no issue on why our loyalties should be disputed by our club and countries following. in anyways, it was so so great to watch the reds in singapore. and also, the last time i saw alonso play for the reds.

i was sick with a 39.1 degree fever on the day of the match but i still carried myself to the stadium. i just couldn’t miss it. one week of MC gave me an opportunity to begin my new obsession to dramas. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. totally an awesome show. in 5 days, i finished 20minutes of 88 episodes each, totalling 4 seasons. neil patrick harris is legendary, truely.

august is here, and when september arrives, towards phuket i come!

fml

after the long chat with peishan yesterday whereby she talked to me about the fml web again, i prob tot to myself that i wouldn’t think that i’d have a day like that whereby i felt to myself “fml”.

but today almost til 12pm, i was alr thinking fml when everything seems to go wrong in the morning. i was supposed to be at office at 6.30am but i woke up at 7am. i still had to go down to office to get my pass to enter sentosa for the exercise VII. and to start with, it was raining big in the morning. i left home and i cant get a cab for 10min, decided to take a train to work, where there was no shelter, and there i was running in the rain with my long sleeved shirt. i ended up having to take a cab to sentosa and spend 25 dollars for cab. thats abt all for the fml part.

things started to get better after that. there was actually a buffet and it was sumptuous! so i convinced myself that i spent tt 25 bucks for a really good buffet. and as i was abt to get a lecturing from my supervisor for being late, he received a call from my boss to let me know that today was my promotion day! and when we got back, i got my rank and also we were allowed to leave early for home. plus we were given extra day off for the hard work we put in today.

its so weird i have a day like this, a terrible morning finished off with a sensational afternoon.

7/7/09

today marks the end of my 1st yr of NS. now onto my second year looking forward to a minor pay rise to go with it.

also i went through my second blood donation today after procrastinating for almost half a year. my 2nd 450ml of blood for a very good cause. Two good deeds in as many weeks, thats quite unlike me.

tonight is the memorial service of michael jackson. i’m gutted we lost a pop icon like him. nobody can sing his songs, nobody can move like he does, and definitely no one can replace michael jackson. RIP

oh and school starts tomorrow once again, its every wednesdays now. GOOD LUCK TO ME

fantastic week

i’ve had probably the best week of the year this past 9 days.

totally enjoyed the week off work and also the amazing trip to cambodia. it was my first time there and most definitely not my last.

now time to get back to work to clear my NS asap!

cambodia in words and pictures

cambodia was absolutely excellent.

it was humid, scorching hot, dusty, and pungent almost all around cambodia but im still wondering why we enjoyed cambodia so much. on the first day, we visited the killing fields, the russian market and also the tuol sleng genocide museum. we learnt the tragic history of cambodia from 1975-1979 whereby millions of lifes were lost during the khmer rouge period.

day 2 was when we took a 6 hour bus journey to siem reap to catch a glimpse of one of the wonders of the world the angkor wat. if anyone was thinking of going to siem reap should definitely have a cap, handtowel, sunglasses and bottles of chilled water because it is like the sun was beside us. but angkor wat was definitely a beauty and totally worth the while to visit. the architectural work, sculptures, the carvings on the temples are near perfection. and to think some of them were built in the 10-11th century makes it even the more remarkable.

however, the highlight of my holiday was the trip to the lighthouse orphanage at phnom penh. it felt good that ppl like us were able to make contributions by the way of 50kg rice (which would last the orphans only a day) and also spending time playing volleyball and soccer with them. absolutely brilliant.

all in all, my cambodia trip was so great that i wish i can go back there again one day. the whole trip made me feel how lucky i am to born in singapore to the context of all the great infrastructure that we have at our disposal, while in cambodia, its merely 1/10th of our standard of living.

more photos are over here. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=94099&id=724849155&l=6d2dccf17e

cheers everyone!
